Invermay opened for business on 3 August 2012 and was awarded 4 stars by VisitScotland on 17 September 2012.
Invermay is a self catering fully restored Victorian Villa with Wi-Fi on the A93 Royal Deeside tourist route which runs from Perth to the South and to Aberdeen in the North.
The house is within 20 minutes of Scone Palace on the same road - just turn left and keep going. It is easy to find one's way to Balmoral Castle: turn right and keep going for 75 minutes! Braemar is only 55 minutes to the north after passing through Glenshee ski resort 40 minutes away. In winter, Glenshee offers the most extensive ski area in Scotland. In summer, it provides a number of easy Munros for "Munro Baggers" to climb. It is also just inside Aberdeenshire and practically at Royal Deeside!
Invermay is only five minutes drive from championship golf courses of Rosemount and Lansdowne at Blairgowrie Golf Club. The Ryder Cup will be held at Gleneagles from 26 to 28 September 2014 and Blairgowrie will also be hosting the Junior Ryder Cup a few days beforehand on the Lansdowne course. Invermay will be available for booking for the Ryder Cup later in 2013.
There is Salmon fishing on the River Tay, 10 minutes from Invermay and also on the local River Ericht and River Isla. The Ardblair walking trail is only 10 minutes on foot and the Cateran Trail starts in Blairgowrie and is a 64 mile circular trip via Bridge of Cally, Kirkmichael, Spittal of Glenshee, Glenisla and Alyth.
Guests can swim in the public pool just round the corner or hire bikes 5 minutes walk along the main road. The bus stop is right across the road.
The house is ideal for up to 6 adult guests for a week. However, it will sleep up to 10 persons, if 6 are adults and 4 are children for a weekend. There are two family rooms upstairs, and one downstairs, with a shower room as well as a bathroom upstairs. Downstairs is a very large double room (the "rock'n'roll bedroom"!) which also has a single sofa bed. Through the new kitchen there is a dining room looking on to the rear garden and then through the small utility room with washing machine and sink, there is a large bathroom with separate shower having low tray and wall-mounted seat. The bath has hand rails and a shower mixer tap.
A unique feature of the house is the infra-red sauna looking on to the rear garden. This is not a steam sauna, but rather, it is a dry heat sauna, good for post-sport aches and pains! All toiletries are supplied by the Highland Soap Company, including liquid hand soap, hand cream, body wash, shampoo and conditioner throughout the property.
There is extensive parking on-site at Invermay for several cars. The lower level of the garage and the conservatory can be used for storage of all sporting equipment and for hanging wet clothing on the two pulleys there. Once the clothing has dried off somewhat it can be brought in the back door to the utility/dining area and hung on the heated clothes drier or hung on a clothes horse near the Aga.
There is free Wi-Fi in the house and TVs with freeview in the kitchen and sitting room. The current guests have been able to access Sky sports channels on the TVs via their laptop connection.
One small well behaved dog or a registered guide dog may also stay with guests in the house.
